JCB, the world's third largest construction equipment manufacturer, has partnered with Peter Jones' mobile distributor Data Select and manufacturer Sonim to launch the JCB TOUGHPHONE^TM.

Designed to withstand the harshest punishment, the JCB TOUGHPHONE^TM can be dropped, shocked, splashed and covered in dust without missing a call. Operating at temperatures from -20c to +60c the phone comes with a three-year warranty making it the longest lasting phone available.

The world record attempt saw the JCB TOUGHPHONE^TM put to the test against a series of escalating challenges to prove the mobile's claims of being tougher than any other phone available. It was raised and dropped by the classic JCB 3CX from a height of 12 feet, sprayed with water from a high velocity jet, placed in a cement mixer of sand and then run over by a JCB Groundhog.

Designed with builders, plumbers, construction workers and tradesmen in mind, the phone will be appreciated by anyone that has watched their all-singing, all-dancing handset shatter on impact with the ground. However, this no-nonsense phone doesn't compromise on feature and includes Bluetooth^TM, Push to Talk, tri-band and built-in dual speakers - which ensure they can be heard, even over a JCB engine!

Released in the UK at the beginning of December 2007 the JCB TOUGHPHONE^TM has been exclusively retailed by Phones 4u and is now on general release.
